Ying Yang

Three words: music, hate, feel by Lizmarily
Story by Leira C. Sánchez Quiñones

I laid on my bed with my arms and legs spread out, like a star. My Beats headphones played music softly. It was loud enough to be heard but not loud enough drown my thoughts. I wanted to stop thinking about her but at the same time I didn't want to stop. Mostly, I wondered how could a heart feel love and hate all at the same time?
I hated her for what she had done to me but I loved her for how she was with me. I hated her for breaking my heart but I loved her for teaching what love is in the first place.
I loved her honesty but when she spoke the truthful words of her betrayal, I hated it. Why did she have to tell me? If she hadn't told me, we could've continued on being the great couple we were. If it didn't mean anything, why did it have the power to destroy in a second what we built in a year?
Why did she do it in the first place? Because she wanted to. Was I not enough for her?
I could feel rage seeping into my heart again. Why didn't I punch her when I had the chance? Because I love her. Why did I have to love her?
Memories of our relationship raced through my mind. Our first date, our first kiss. A question written with icing on a cake. The answer in my heart, in my lips. Betrayal. Rage. Hate.
I yanked my Beats off and threw them on the ground next to my bed. I had been mourning for far too long.
